Le tennis est un des sports de raquette qui oppose soit deux joueurs en simple, soit quatre joueurs en double. Les joueurs frappent une balle par dessus un filet et dans les limites du terrain de telle sorte que l’adversaire ne puisse la renvoyer. Sport de compétition ou de loisirs, le tennis développe l’adresse, la souplesse, la rapidité, la précision et la coordination chez le pratiquant. C’est un enchaînement d'accélérations, de frappes de balle et de brèves périodes de repos qui nécessite une bonne condition physique, des qualités d’endurance et de bonnes facultés de récupération. On peut y jouer dès le plus jeune âge, jusqu'à un âge avancé.
